After Rayado

Wow! There's not much I can say about Rayado except that it was amazing! Three weeks in the backcountry really flys by quickly. I had such a good time, I wish I could do it again, but just like being a Rayado participant, you can only be a Rayado Ranger one time. I think I had a really good crew and a great partner. It really made for an experience that will last a lifetime.

After being on the trail for three weeks, we got three days off. That's really not enough time to catch up on the website, so I'm taking it a little at a time. A bunch of us rangers decided to go up to Denver for a few days and look at the REI up there. Exactly what you would expect rangers to do on their day off, look at better gear than what they have. We also went to the sand dunes in Colorado and had a barbeque. That was a good break, but I'm glad to be back at Philmont.

I've got a normal crew now and we're headed off to Rayado River and then on to Lookout Meadow. I feel like I was just there a few days ago, so it will be interesting to go back. Going back to a normal crew is hard though. Having to deal with advisors is something I had completely forgotten about. Hopefully I can keep my energy up and make the most of this experience. Rayado was great and I'm really glad I did it, but it's over now and time to move on.

I don't know how long it will be before I get the pictures and video up from Rayado since my camera broke when we were on Trail Peak. This was the second time that I went up Trail Peak and didn't have a camera to take pictures with. So now I'm currently in the market for a new camera. Hopefully I'll have a new one soon. Until then, the media part of the website will have to be put on hold, not to mention that it will probably take a while to get all the pictures sorted out. So don't expect anything soon.

Philmont's great and I really love it out here, but keeping this website going takes up almost all the free time I do have, not that I've had a lot of it. Anyway, until I have time to write again, here's hoping that everyone back home is having as great a time as I am.
